Dark side

You've been dating Antonio for a couple of weeks now, you two have been going steady and the relationship has been great so far. The only problem was that you had a secret. A secret only a few people knew about it, including your family and your best friend. To keep that secret safe you have to leave before sundown, no matter what you were doing, every single day. Although you were handling it and things were getting better, you couldn't risk people's lives.  Antonio was tolerant and didn't ask for any explanations after you told him that it was personal, and when the conversations got too close to the secret, you always changed the subject. But the truth was, he had to find out someday if the two of you wanted to keep dating. But it could wait. Right?


So one day you and Antonio were hanging at the bar and you were having a so much fun lost track of time.You were drinking a _______ and Antonio had a glass of red wine. You two were playing twenty questions, but when you looked down at your watch, you noticed it was 7:48. Five minutes before sundown. You panicked and quickly ran out of the bar apologizing.
"It's O.K., bye________!" He said looking a bit annoyed. He had wanted to spend more time with you but you never stayed for too long and since fall was starting, the days were getting shorter and so was his time with you. When he was about to exit, he noticed your phone lying on the counter. He quickly paid for the drinks and ran out after you. He knew where you lived and he thought that he could still catch up with you since you couldn't have made it too far.


You took a shortcut, walking through a small dark alley to get to your house faster because you were running out of time and you didn't want to collapse in the middle of the streets. 'One minute to go.' you thought, 'Okay I can probably make it.' But all of a sudden, you heard a voice behind you. You froze because you knew that voice, it was Antonio. You turned around slowly, as you started to feel the burning spread through your veins.


"Hey. You forgot your phone, and my kiss!" He smiled as he joked while walking towards you.
"Antonio I have something to tell you something. It's really important." You said quickly, it was going to happen anyway and he had to know eventually. "But first answer this for me, will you? Do you love me?"
"Of course I love you, mi bella" He said while kissing you on the forehead.
"No matter what? Even if I have a dark side?"
"Si! of course! Why do you ask?" He said as a worried expression started crossing on his face.

"Well I think it's time that you know why I've been leaving before sunset every single day. Just remember what you said and promise me to run away if your life is in any danger. Don't worry about me. Okay?" You felt it, she took over you and you dropped to the rocky ground with a thud, losing all controls over your body. You felt the changes begin, your eyes started to burn as your ______ eyes turned red, your skintone got lighter and your hair gained a deep red tint that reminded you of blood. You felt HER take over, so you had no more control and all you could do was sit and watch. Your body got up stretching, a smile spreading over your face, teeth glinting.
"Hi Antonio!" A way to sweet version of your voice said "I finally get to meet you in person because _______ has been such hog." Antonio's eyes widened he took a step back. She blinked quickly looking down shyly, and then sneaking a look at him.

"W-What happened ______?"
"She can't respond at the moment. Would you like to leave a message? She'll get back to to as soon as she can." She laughed, it was sweet and childish. " But she's been so mean lately and has been suppressing me so much that I never get to get out anymore, and its all because of you." She said as she put a finger on Antonio's chest with a tap and looked up into his eyes with a smug expression.

"What do you mean suppressing you and what is going on?" She raised an eyebrow,  Antonio was calmer than you would have expected, your last boyfriend freaked out completely and pretty much fainted on the spot.
"Go figure. She didn't tell you? ________'s really shy about it, but I don't see why. I mean, I'm such good company! Don't you agree?"  He started to back away fear but stopped in his tracks and looked right into your eyes.
“______, i know you're still there, and i will get you back!” You felt overjoyed but she didn't seem as happy.
“Am I not good enough for you?” Her normally sweet voice turned cold and bitter as she grabbed a piece of glass from a broken window behind her and hid it without Antonio noticing.

You started to panic, what if she hurt him. He only reason all of this was happening is because the last couple of days have made you feel desperate again and because of a wish you made as a child people are getting hurt. You remembered the cold night it all started, you well sitting in your closet crying. In school you were often bullied but when you told the parents or teachers they ignored  it saying that it was normal for kids to tease each other. But it went on and got worse you started getting beat up after school and you were getting desperate. One day you heard a voice that said
“I could help you know, if you let me take over, everything will stop. Just let me take care of everything.” You could see the school jocks heading your way so you gave in. The first time she took over you blacked out, but as she started taking over more and more you learned how to  watch what was happening. She was brutal but even tho the bullying stopped you couldn’t take her anymore, but she wasn’t gonna give up so easily so you made a deal that she would only come out at night. As your life improved and as you started feeling better about yourself you could make her disappear. But her voice reappeared a couple of months ago when your friend got in an accident, you got fired from your job and your car got stolen.

Your body started moving forward clutching the peace of glass, you tried to think of all the good things in your life to try and take back control, but she was resisting. You took as much energy as you could and for a moment you took back your body. You dropped the piece of glass and said one word.
“Run” He saw the change as your appearance came back for a flash but then she started making her comeback. You were shocked and froze as you felt Antonio’s lips meet yours. You eyes went wide as you melted into the kiss not realising the she was fading away.

It’s been a month since the incident, she didn't come back yet. You woke up slowly turning on your side looking at Antonio’s sleeping face, you smiled slightly. But that smile fell slightly, you knew she wasn't gone, and the she would come back sooner or later when something bad would happen. The difference is now you have someone knew and that could help you no matter what.
